"Herman W. Carpenter, age 88, formerly of RR2 Veedersburg died August 26 at the Covington Manor Nursing Home. He was born March 19, 1902 in Marshall, IL to William ad Mary (Carver) Carpenter. He married Mabel Ogle on January 20, 1921 who preceded him in death in 1987.

Survivors include: 6 daughters, Norma Jean Blievernicht of Cedar Lake, IN; June Lock of Monon, IN; Juanita Miller of Hobart, IN; Mary Beebe of Veedersburg; Beverly Ballard of Perkins, OK and Darlene Ward of Gary, IN. Three sons, Donald of Valparaiso; Paul of Veedersburg; and Dale of Monon; two brothers, Carl of Martinsville, IL and Barry of West Union, IL; one sister, Bonnie Sanders of Terre Haute; 39 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren. Se was preceded in death by two daughters, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and three sisters.

Services were at Dickerson Funeral, Home with the Reverend Glen Arbuckle officiating. Burial was In Bonebrake Cemetery." – Wabash Valley Reporter, August 30, 1990
