Elmer Earl Jones was born December 11, 1900, at the farm home one and three-fourths miles south of Ruskin, and departed this life August 17, 1973, at Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 6 days.
He was the youngest child of John Riley Jones and Etta Adams Jones. He had seven half brothers and sisters and five full brothers and sisters who have all preceded in in death, except his sister, Vivian.
In 1901 the family moved to a farm two miles northwest of Nora where his father died in 1902.
He attended Antelope school until December 1913, when they moved into Nor where he completed his schooling. He was always interested in farming and this proved to be his life's work.
He was married to Christine Dillon, March 23, 1938, in Hebron, Neb. Two children come to bless this union, Lonnie Ear. and Karen Mae.
He was united into membership in the Nora Methodist church in 1955.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his faithful wife, Christine Mae; his son, Lonnie and daughter-in-law, Rosanne Jones, of Geneva, Neb.; his daughter, Karen Mae, and son-in-law, John LaRock; two grandsons, Roy John and Steven Earl LaRock of Sparta, Wis.; his sister, Vivian Lanham of Bird City, Kas.; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 20, 1973, at 10 a.m. at the Nora Methodist Church with Pastor Richard Ludden officiating.
Mildred Grove, Ruth Thayer, Alta Gerbeling and Lillian Thayer sang "Beyond the Sunset" and the congregation sang "How Great Thou Art." Melba Lynch was the organist.
Pallbearers were Charlie Anderson, Ralph Lanham, Dennis Lanham, Lynn Thayer, Mike Thayer and Marvin Lewis. Interment was in the Nora Cemetery.
