On September 16, 1903, he was married to Bessie Adams, and to this union was born a daughter, Ruth, who died at the age of 15, and his wife in the spring of 1906.
In June, 1907, he was married to Fannie McKinney, and to this union were born two daughters ad (sic) a son, the latter dying in infancy, and his wife passed away on June 5, 1941. Others preceding him in death besides his parents, were a brother Louie and a half-sister, Mrs. Ina Said.
On February 3, 1942, he was married to Mrs. Ida Drain.
He is survived by his his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Bernice Ullom of Hanford, Wash., Mrs. Bertha Moore, Flint, Mich.; four sisters, Mrs. Ollie Wright, Ruskin, Mrs. Effie Graver, California, Mrs. Alma Thayer, Nora, Mrs. Amy Newhouse, Nelson; four half-brothers, Riley, Loveland, Colo., Archie, Elmer and Orvis, Nora; a halfsister (sic), Mrs. Vivian Reade, Bird City, Kans.; a step sister, Mrs. Lillian Adrian, Edison; four step children, Sam Drain, Hastings, Mrs. Emily Simon, North Platte, Mrs. Ida Long and Mrs. Mary Underwood, of California; besides other relatives and many friends.
At the age of 14 he united with the Presbyterian church (sic) and has lived a faithful Christian life. He was of a kindly disposition and ever ready to help a friend in need. His greatest pleasure was in the love of his home and family.
Funeral services were conducted by Clarence Mersch of Davenport, at 2 P.M. Monday afternoon, from the Church of Christ at Ruskin. Music was furnished by Mrs. C.W. Mersch, Mrs. Mabel Magee, Fred Stanley and Geo. Thayer. Pallbearers were six nephews: Marvin Thayer, Jerome Kohl, Earl Corman, Corwin Shipherd, Dean and Boyd Jones; and interment was in the Ruskin cemetery.
