ERNEST NEAL WEISS

Ernest "Pud" Neal Weiss, 74, of Chipley, passed away on Monday, June 9, at Graceville. Mr. Weiss was born on July 12, 1933 in Edmond, Oklahoma to Lawrence Richard and Elsie (Walter) Weiss. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a M42 "Duster" anti-aircraft vehicle driver, earning a promotion to Sergent. He was deployed to Germany and preparing to deploy to Korea when the armistice was signed. After the war, he returned to Edmond and then moved to Indiana, PA to work for his brother-in-law building houses. While in Edmond, he met the love of his life, LaNelle Cutts. He and LaNelle married in 1959. Pud and LaNelle moved to Bradenton, FL where he worked for the school district. After a few years, they moved to LaNelle's home town of Chipley where he went to the bee business with his father-in-law and brother-in-law. Pud was a member of the Chipley Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. He was a lifetime member of the Florida State Beekeepers Association and the American Beekeeping Federation and also a lifetime member of the Tupelo Honey Association.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home (Brickyard Road) Chipley, with the Minister Earl Kimbrough officiating. Interment will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at Brown Funeral Home, (Brickyard Road) Chipley.

He is survived by his wife, Lanelle Cutts Weiss of Chipley; one son, Richard Weiss of Charleston, South Carolina; Jean and husband Jack Taylor of Chipley and Rosa and husband Terry Nichols of Graceville; two brothers: Larry Weiss and Lannie Weiss, both of Edmond, Oklahoma; one sister, Shirley Smeltzer of Edmond, Oklahoma; and either grandchildren: Mary Rosalyn Taylor, Lila Taylor, Will Taylor, Anne Marie Nichols, Caroline Nichols, Preston Nichols, Georgia Nichols and Charlie Nichols.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Weiss, and two sisters: Louise Perry and Merrilea Smith.
