Lafayette - Mr. Engman Sorrell, 75, of LaFayette died Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Lanier Nursing Home in Valley.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m. (CST) at Penton Church of God in Penton, Ala., with the Rev. Jim Luttrell officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Sorrell is survived by his special friend, Nellie Royster of LaFayette; his daughter, Elaine Tidwell of Lanett; his brother, O.D. Sorrell of Lanett; three grand-daughters, two geat-grand-sons and one great-grand-daughter.
Born Oct. 17, 1927 in Chambers County, Mr. Sorrell served as a deacon, superintendent of Sunday school, church treasurer, board of trustees and a usher at Penton Church of God. He was also an avid gardener and blue bird watcher. Mr. Sorrell was retired from Lanett Bleachery & Dye Works after 43 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wives, Gladys Sharp Sorrell and Dorothy Howell Sorrell; and his daughter, Jeanne Dixon.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 14 from 6 until 8 p.m. (CST) at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette.
