Lanett - Mr. Rae Sorrell, 83, of Lanett died Friday at Redmont Park Hospital in Rome, Ga.
Funeral services were held Sunday at First Church of God in Valley with the Rev. William A. Parker and the Rev. Don Hackney officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett.
Mr. Sorrell is survived by his wife, Mr. Willie Lee Kendrick Sorrell of Lanett; two daughters, Mrs. Louise S. Thompson of Lake Harding, and Mrs. Pat S. Winterboer of Rome, Ga.; one son, Nathan Sorrell of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Lemerle Scott of Montgomery; four brothers, O.D. Sorrell of Lanett, Lewis Sorrell of Huguley, Engman Sorrell of White Plains, and Jack Sorrell of Huguley; ten grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A native of Chambers County, Mr. Sorrell was a member of First Church of God in Valley where he was very active and in the television ministry in the Valley area. He served in the Valley ministry at several nursing homes in the Valley and he was a spiritual song writer.
He was retired from Lanett Mill with 40 years of service and he was a member of the Lanett Masonic Lodge.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 9 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point.
