Well Known Penton Citizen died last Monday.
Rufus Sorrell, age 69, well known Penton citizen passed away August 16 at 4:05 p.m. following an illness of several months.
Funeral services were held from the Penton Church at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, with Rev. T. E. Beddingfield in charge. Interment was in the Penton cemetery with Johnson & Sanders conducting.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Ruby Sorrell, White Plains, and Mrs. Williard Scott, Lanett; 8 sons, H. H., Rae, Curtis, Glenn, O. D. and Lewis Sorrell all of Lanett, and Jack and Engman of White Plains; 1 sister, Mrs. G. P. Adams, West Point; 1 brother, Claud Sorrell, Lanett; 2 half-brothers, Rev. S. D. Lankford, Lincoln, Ala., and Charlie Lankford, Tallassee, Ala.
Pallbearers were sons.
Mr. Sorrell had lived his entire life in the Penton and White Plains communities.
