A resident of Kentwood, she died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at
Belle Maison Nursing Home, Ponchatoula. She was 90 and a native of St.
Helena Parish. Visitation at Day's United Methodist Church, Greensburg,
from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday. Religious services
at the church at 2 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Rand Guy and the Rev.
Larry Robertson. Interment in Alford Cemetery, Kentwood. Preceded in death
by her husband, Jesse B. Allen. She was the last surviving child of W.C.
and Adelia Alford's 14 children. She was a past matron of Order of the
Eastern Star Chapter No. 158, a member of AARP, UDC-Camp Moore and St.
Helena Historical Association. She had been a volunteer at the St. Helena
Parish Nursing Home from the time it was established. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to Alford Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 298,
Greensburg, LA 70441. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of
arrangements.
