Mr. August Ahrens was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, March 3, 1867 and departed this life October 28, 1932, aged 65 years, 7 months and 25 days.
He came to Nebraska with his parents at the age of ten years and made his home north-west of Deshler. He was instructed In the Christian religion and confirmed in
the Kiowa Lutheran Church.
On October 18th, 1894 he was united in marriage to Emma Christina Tuepker and to this union was born seven children. Two of these preceded their father in death, Ida who passed away in infancy and Anna Wilhelmina on October 25th, 1922. Those who mourn his departure are his wife, one daughter,
Lydia at home; four sons, August of Genoa, Louis of Oak, Henry of Edgar, and John of Arnold; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Henry Tamka, Mrs. Ernest Meyer,and Mrs. Henry Wolfe all of Deshler and Mrs. John Miller of St.
Cloud Minnesota; six brothers, Wm. of Sedan, Fred and Louis of Deshler, Henry of Loma, Colorado, Chas. of Fairbury, and Edward of Davenport.
Mr. Ahrens and his wife and his daughter Lydia united with Christ's
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Davenport last Easter and have been faithful members. He was a loving husband and father, as well as a trustworthy neighbor and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
They are not dead who live
In hearts they leave behind.
In those whom they have blessed
They live a life again
And shall live through the years
Eternal life, and grow
Each day more beautiful,
And time declares their good,
Forget the rest and promises their
Immortality
The funeral services were held in Christ Ev. Luth. Church in Davenport with Rev. J. C. Hershey officiating, and burial in the Davenport Cemetery.
