DEATH TAKES TWO RESIDENTS OF CUMBERLAND
Mrs. Briscoe and Charles Stender, Both Residents of Cumberland Vicinity, are Dead, Cumberland Pastor to Go to Utah
CUMBERLAND, Ia., March 16 - Death has take two residents of this locality the past few days, Mrs. William T. Briscoe, aged 38, and Charles H. Stender, aged 67. Mrs. Briscoe was born in Illinois in 1879. Her maiden name was Martha Janssen. She was married to Mr. Briscoe in 1902. One daughter, Ruby, was born to the couple. The daughter and the husband survive Mrs. Briscoe. The latter is also survived by her mother, two brothers, and three sisters. Mrs. George Clark and Miss Emma Janssen of Atlantic are sisters.
Mr. Stender was a native of Jutland, Denmark, where he was born in 1850. He came to America in 1867 and located in Illinois. Later the family moved to Iowa and located in Adams county, on a farm south of Cumberland. Mr. Stender is survived by his wife and six children. He was in poor health for many months preceding his death.
