SPRUCE PINE- Nell Lowery Simmons, 92 of the Big Lynn Community, died Thursday, March 1,1997 at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late John A. Lowery, Lula Biddix Lowery and the wife of R.G. "Slim" Simmons who died in 1970. She was a homemaker and attended Grassy Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter Becky Burleson of Spruce Pine, Mary Lou Young of Johnson City, Tenn., son, John Simmons of Spruce Pine; sisters, Faye Biddix of Spruce Pine, Thelma McGee, and Edith Fisher, both of Marion; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Webb Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. William Whitefield, and R.M. Cassity officiating. Burial will be in the Grassy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
