JOHN ALEXANDER LOWERY.
SPRUCE PINE- John Alexander Lowery, 96 died Saturday night in the home of a daughter, Mrs Tommy Biddix, on Spruce Pine Rt.1 following a long illness.
A retired farmer, Mr Lowery was a native and life long resident of Mitchell County, and a son of the late Thomas and Evelyn McKinney Lowery.
Surviving in addition to Mrs Biddix, are six other dauthters, Mrs Cora Hollifield, Mrs Pauline Boyd, Mrs Thelma McGee of Marion, Mrs Dusky Cresawn, Mrs Edith Fisher, Mrs Nell Simmons of Spruce Pine Rt 1.
Also, two sons, Garrett Lowery of Marion and Bascum Lowery of Nebo; a sister, Mrs Lena Biddix of Marion: 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and three great-greatgrand children.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. monday in Turkey Cove Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. Clifton Cooper, and the Rev. C.C. Parker will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be the following grandsons: Phillip Fisher, Danny McGee, Donald Crisawn, Johnny Simmons, Perry Boyd, Morris Hollifield, Raymond Hollifield, and Edwin Biddix.
The body has been returned to the home of Mrs. Tommy Biddix to await the service hour. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arangements.
