BUEKER, John Duane (Manistee, MI) passed away November 7, 2011 at Munson Medical Center, Grand Traverse County after a brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis, age 78. John was born in Saginaw County, into the family of Margaret Hoff and John Wesley Bueker. After graduating from Arthur Hill High School in 1951, John began working for Saginaw Steering Gear, General Motors. From janitor to executive plant manager, John worked in nearly every manufacturing plant until his retirement from Plant 2 in 1992. During this term he also served his country at the time of the Korean War. John's passion for manufacturing was surpassed only by his love for real estate development. John developed the Frankenmuth RV Park in the late 1970's and continued with residential developments in Hemlock, MI under the new business he formed in June 1992, Bueker Development Incorporated. Surviving John is his loving wife of nineteen years, Michele Groomes Bueker, John's four children, Andrea (Richard) Hoffman, Steven (Antoinette) Bueker, Dana (John) Smith and Neil Bueker, brother Wesley (Mary) Bueker and sisters Margaret Clark and Ruth (John) Stevens, brothers in law John (Marsha) Groomes, Charles Clayton (Janis) Groomes, Jeffery (Paula) Groomes, Russell Riker and sister in law Anita (Arthur) Michalski. John was predeceased by sister Kathleen Bueker. John has had the pleasure of knowing and loving his grandchildren Barbara, Steven, Jason, Chelsey, Parker and Christian, his great grandchildren Kayden and Kylie and many loving nieces and nephews. Throughout his life John generously supported his community, most recently through Field Neurosciences Institute, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Art Museum, Historical Society of Saginaw County, Saginaw County Fair, Hemlock School Music Programs and the Saginaw and Manistee Community Foundations. A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Horizons Conference Center, 6200 State Street, Saginaw. John's family will greet friends from 11:30 to1:30. A memorial service will follow.
