Mary Alice Martin was born May 18, 1836 in Kentucky. She was the daughter of William B. Martin and Matilda Moore Martin. Mary Alice was the second of nine children. The family was living in Howard, Gentry County, Missouri by at least 1850.
Mary Alice Martin married Robert Foster Partridge April 4, 1858 in Harrison County, Missouri. They moved first to southwestern Iowa about 1866; moved again in 1868 to St. Joseph, Missouri. And, in the spring of 1870, moved to Linn County, Kansas and lived there the rest of their lives.
According to Mary's obituary, she and R.F. had ten children--5 sons and 5 daughters. Eight have been accounted for:Sarah Matilda (1861-1879); Lucy J. (1863-1928); William J. (1865-1879); Susan Annie (1867-1951); James Foster (1870-1942); Charles Martin (1874-1947); Dora Ellen (1877-1952); Mary Alice (1880-1926).
