Born on 22 February, 1940 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC, Ann Auten was always a loving and devoted wife and mother before anything else. Her children would, many times joke with her about being born on the same day as George Washington.

A lifelong resident of North Carolina, she never failed to let her family know how much she loved them. Her neighbors felt this as well, particularly during the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo in 1989. No one in her neighborhood had electricity and Ann utilized her camping equipment to see that everyone in the neighborhood had hot meals until power was restored. Her kindness didn't stop there. Everyone who crossed her path knew that she loved them and her only wish was to see that they made it to Heaven. She made her journey to Heaven on 9 January 2006 after a long term illness.

She is missed by her husband of 35 years, Tony R. Auten, Sr. ,Daughter, Patricia (Cissy) Auten Polk, and sons Marty Pagoota, Chuck Pagoota, and Andy Pagoota, Tony R. Auten, Jr., AND A HOST OF OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS.
