John J. Huwer, 93, 1201 Cranberry Rd., St. Henry, died Monday, May 8 at 11:44 a.m. at Celina Manor Nursing Home of complications. He was born January 22, 1896 in Cranberry Prairie, to John J. and Catherine (Hein) Huwer. On April 14, 1928, he wa s married in St. Sebastian to Regina Schwieterman, who died in 1971. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Ivo (Marian) Langenkamp, Greenville; Victor, New Weston; Mrs. Richard (Eileen) Barga, Versailles; and Charles, St. Henry; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Preceded in death by three sisters, a daughter and two grandchildren. He was the last member of his immediate family. A retired farmer, he had served as a supervisor for the soil conservation program in Mercer County . He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Cranberry, and the Men's Society of the parish. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Francis with the Rev. Arnold Meiring officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
