Amelia (Frésquez) Sisneros, was born in Española, New Mexico on Monday, May 5, 1930, to the late Melecio Frésquez and Braulia Frésquez (Ortiz).
Amelia passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, May 10, 2023, after a long illness.
Amelia was 93 years old.
Amelia lived a rich and varied life. Born into the grasp of the great depression, Amelia learned hard work early and embraced it her entire life. A native of Española, New Mexico, Amelia and her husband, Tony Sisneros lived in Albuquerque, NM for decades.
Amelia retired after years of work at Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico. A native Spanish speaker, Amelia assisted customers of Blue Cross Blue Shield as they sought assistance for medical insurance complications.
Amelia contributed as an active member of St. John XXIII Catholic Church. Staying active, she was a fixture at children's parties and public events as Amelia the Mexican Clown. Until illness took her ability to drive, she continued her husband's business as a process server.
In her high school yearbook, Amelia wrote that she liked everyone and everything. Amelia spoke her mind. At the same time, she was kind. loved her family, her husband, and God, and lived her life with unfailing style. The world is a better place because she was in it.
Amelia was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, sisters, Amanda Rolfes, Lou Luján and Gilda Quintana and brothers, Tony Frésquez and Benito Frésquez.
She leaves behind her sister, Angelina Romero of Española, her children, Cynthia (Sisneros) Semarge of Manhattan, Kansas, Michael Sisneros of Tijeras, New Mexico, Danny Sisneros of Albuquerque as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Amelia's funeral is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at St. John XXIII Catholic Church and she will be laid to rest at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. A reception will follow the mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Amelia's name to the charity of one's choice.
Amelia Sisneros' absence will be keenly felt by those who knew and loved her. Her family appreciates the support of the community during this trying time.
