On 06 Sep 1824, Fanny married George Hansel in Allegany County, Maryland. Together they would have the following children: George Washington, Susanna Maria, Nancy Ann, Simon Peter, John, and Francis Marion.
They were engaged in Farming near Frostburg, Maryland most of their early married life. In 1833 they moved from Maryland and settled in Farmington, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Here they bought Fanny's father's farm that sat astride the National Road. On 08 Jan 1844, Franny's husband George was killed by a tree that fell on him and she was then left alone to raise her children.
According to the 1850 Federal Census, Fanny at the age of 44 was head of household living in Wharton Township, Farmington, Pennsylvania with the following children: George, Nancy, Fanny, Susanna Maria, and Simon Peter. Not sure where son Francis Marion was as he would have only been about 8 years old.
Sadly, three of her sons died at a young age. It is not known if her sons John and Simon Peter died before she did. Thankfully, she was not alive to bear the pain of losing Francis Marion in the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War.
She died in 1859 at the age of 53 and was laid to rest at the Hansel private family cemetery in Farmington, Pennsylvania.
