She was born in the Hazeldell Community on December 8, 1921 to the late Joseph H. and Martha Susan Lee Prows. She was a member of the Hazeldell Church of Christ.
Mrs. Burnett is survived by two sons, Donald & Eyvonne Burnett, of the Woodstock Community, and Harold & Linda Burnett, of the Welborn Community; a daughter, Wanda Jones, of the Hazeldell Community; two sisters, Christine Wilburn, of Somerset, and Lorene Head, of Somerset; five grandchildren, Justin & Amanda Burnett, of Lexington, KY, Tanner Burnett, Hunter Jones, Kelly Jones, Lynzie Johnson, all of Somerset; a great-grandson, Parker Lee Jones, of Somerset; a daughter-in-law, Georgia Burnett, of Somerset; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends to mourn her passing.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Burnett, whom she married on April 10, 1945 in the Hazeldell Community; two sons, William E. (Bill) Burnett, and Robert H. (Bobby) Burnett; four brothers, Clarence Prows, Lucien Prows, Lindsey Prows, and Robert Prows; five sisters, Bonnie Diamond, Daisy Hargis, Dorothy Martin, Lou Etta Head, and Kathryn Jones; and two grandchildren, Robert Lee Burnett, and Cody Burnett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Merdell Burnett were held on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home at 2:00pm with Robbie Cable officiating. Interment followed in the Woodstock Cemetery.
