107-Year-Old Woman Dies
Boone County's oldest woman - Mrs. Anna Josephine Wilson - died last night at the Boone County Hospital at the age of 107.

She was the widow of Alfred B. Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson was born at Dry Fork, Carroll County, August 2, 1864, the second of twelve children born to Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Marrs of Harrison.

Mrs. Wilson was married to Alfred B. Wilson November 6, 1881. They had one son, John Oscar who was in business in Harrison for many years. Both Mr. Wilson and son died in 1945 and 1962.

She is survived by a foster son, Obed Wilson of Green Forest; two foster grandchildren, (living female) of San Antonio, Texas and (living male) of Houston, Texas; one great grandchild (living male); two sisters, Mrs. Edith Andrews of Little Rock and Mrs. Ada Hill of Harrison; a brother, J. Frank Marrs of Harrison, several nieces and nephews. A niece Mrs. Pauline Irwin, has lived with her for the past nine years.

Mrs. Wilson has lived most of her 107 years in Carroll and Boone counties. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson lived in Green Forest for about 30 years where they owned and operated a grocery store and livery stable. In 1911 they moved to a large farm 4-miles southeast of Green Forest where they lived until 1942 when they moved to Harrison.

Mrs. Wilson joined the church in early childhood transferring to the First Methodist Church in Harrison. As long as she was able she was an active member of the Women's Quilting Society of the church and many of her tiny stitches can be found in homes in the city. Her motto was, "if it is worth doing, it is worth doing well," and her needle was proof of this.

Mrs. Wilson greeted her friends and family at her home on her 107th birthday and was so happy to know she had reached that goal. She has been in failing health for about a year but her mind remained clear and alert until her passing.

She enjoyed life and her friends and never complained of the hard times she had but often remarked that she would love to live it all over again.

The funeral will be Friday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Christeson Funeral Home by Rev. John McCormack and Rev. Russell Skorburg with burial in the Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Merle Milligan, Willard Phillips, Charles Dalton Davis, Frank Lee Coffman, Jr., Doug Hudson and Bill Bonsteel.

Honorary pallbearers will be (living), Dr. Jean Gladden, Dr. Rhys Williams, Robert Sims.
