Henry Ellis in the 1850 Census, taken on or about November 22, 1850, was living in Macon County, Missouri, age 25, birthplace - Kentucky, occupation: farmer. He is listed with Priscilla U. Ellis, his first wife, age 29, birthplace - Tennessee. Boxes are checked that indicate they were both married within the year.

In the 1860 Census, taken on or about July 20, 1860, Henry Ellis was age 36, living in Narrows Township, Macon County, Missouri, occupation – 'Farm', value of real estate - $400, value of personal estate - $100, he is listed with his second wife, 'B Eliza', age 35, birthplace – Virginia, he is also listed with his son from his first wife 'William M', age 10, and his children from his second wife; 'Louisa', age 6, 'John T.', age 4, and 'James' , age 2 – birthplace – Missouri, for all children.

It appears that Henry's brothers, Burrell (or Burril/Bunell) N. Ellis (I think Bunell is a spelling error, but it has his record on that one), James B. According to their records, all three of his brothers were discharged for disability in 1863.

From the record of the 1860's (possibly 1867) Pension Case of his widow, Eliza Ellis; The story seemed to be that Henry Ellis had contracted a sickness while in the service of his duty. The Regiment Surgeon didn't think he could recover, so he gave permission to John Ellis, Henry's dad, to take him from the hospital to his home in Macon County, Missouri. Within a few miles of his home, Henry died at the home of his brother, Isaac Ellis, in Macon, Macon County, Missouri of a sickness on or about October 31, 1862.
