---William M. Ellis, a highly respected citizen of La Plata, died very suddenly at his home yesterday morning about ten o'clock while sitting in his chair. Mr. Ellis had been complaining of late but his condition was not considered serious by himself or his family. He had just retired from the coal house and complained of feeling ill and sat down in a rocking chair where he passed away in a few minutes.
---Dr. S.W. Saunders was called but Mr. Ellis breathed his last a few moments after the doctor arrived. The cause of his death was given as rheumatism of the heart.
---Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, this afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. G.W. Kollner. Interment in La Plata cemetery.
