Eva Iona (Boyer) Beeks, age 100, passed away on November 23, 2022, at the Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor. Cremation has been effected. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Eva was born on January 28, 1922, in Kay County, Oklahoma, the fifth of eight children of Charles and Gertrude (Flauding) Boyer. She lived her entire life in the Arkansas City area where she raised her two daughters. She married Wendell Beeks on December 12, 1953, and left her clerk job at Shutlers Grocery to become a farm wife. Wendell preceded her in death in 1961. She was a devoted mother, volunteering at school, making Halloween costumes and Barbie doll dresses, hosting birthday and slumber parties. Hers was the home her siblings and their families seemed to gather, as she extended invitations for every holiday so that family could celebrate and be together with home-cooked potlucks. She was an excellent seamstress and talented at embroidery and quilting, bestowing her beautiful work to many family and friends. Eva was a past active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and First United Presbyterian Church. She loved reading devotionals and was a wonderful example of a giving, Christian woman. We will all miss her quick wit and sound advice.

In addition to her husband, Eva was preceded in death by her parents and her seven siblings: Alvin Boyer, Ruth Burnett, Allene Lewman, Jessie Stout, Wilma Copeland, Dorothy Fultz, and Robert Boyer.

Eva is survived by her two daughters, Mary Beeks and Nancy (Rodney) Heiberger; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home, and/or the family asks that you simply do something kind for someone in her loving memory. Eva's family wishes to express their extreme gratitude to the wonderful staff of the Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor, who assisted her in living the best, most independent life she could in her advanced years.
