Porterville - Samuel Alfred Mikesel, 82, of Porterville, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1981 at his home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1898, in Porterville, a son of Willard and Sarah Elizabeth Roberts Mikesell.
He married Virginia (Virg) Johnson on Oct. 8, 1924 in Ogden. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 2, 1965.
He was a lifelong resident of Porterville. He had been a farmer and sheepherder before working at Ideal Cement Co. in Devils Slide. He retired in 1963 after 22 years of service.
He was an Elder in the Porterville LDS Ward and servied in the YMMIA, coached M Men basketball and was a home teacher.
Serviving are his widow of Porterville; three sons and three duaghters, Wendell S. Mikesell, Gerald D. Mikesell, both of Morgan; Scott O. Mikesell, Sunset; Mrs. Earl (LaVdll) Lythgoe, Ogden; Mrs. Otto (Carlene) Doffee, Merced, Calif.; Peggy Ann Mikesell, Layton; 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Pearl Smith, Porterville.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday at 12 noon in the Porterville Ward Chapel.
Friends may call at the Walker MOrtuary in Morgan Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel Saturday one hour prior to services. Burial in the South Morgan Cemetery.
