Mae Lorine Rose, age 78, of North Tazewell, Va., died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at her home.

Born January 24, 1929 in Tazewell County, Va., she was a daughter of the late James Thomas Cornwell and Myrtle Azine Williams Cornwell. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with the Lilies of the Field Thrift Store in North Tazewell, Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Byrd Rose; six brothers, Robert Cornwell, Rufus Cornwell, Bill Cornwell, Frazier Cornwell, Ralph Cornwell, and Joe Cornwell.

Survivors include four sisters, Margaret Phillips and husband, Roy of Hickory, N.C., Marie Sheets of Burkes Garden, Va., Arebell Rose and husband, Robert and Mary Faye Rose and husband, Harold "Sonny" Rose all of Baptist Valley, Va.; one brother, John Cornwell and wife, Opal of Baptist Valley, Va.; special nephew and niece whom she adopted as her own, George Rose and wife, Julie of Baptist Valley, Va.; one special sister-in-law, Nettie Cornwell of Marion, Va.; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Rev. Henry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be Timothy Rose, Joseph Rose, Frankie Rose, Cody Rose, J.R. Hager and Frankie Berry.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Saturday (today), January 12, 2008.
