Thelma (Elliott) Anderson Lemons Steel

OKLAHOMA CITY --Services for Thelma "Nanaw" Anderson Steel, 89, will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Brookwood Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery.

Steel was born March 9, 1910, in DeQueen, Ark., to Clyde and Elizabeth Holcomb Eliiott and died May 11, 1999, at an Oklahoma City hospital from injuries she received in the May 3, 1999 tornado.

Mrs. Steel was preceded in death by her husbands, Everett Anderson, Oris Lemons and James Steel; daughter, J. Joan Hackney; son, William “Bill” Anderson; two sisters, Georgia Helen Elliot and Julia Book; one brother, Raymond Elliott; and s grandson.

She is survived three brothers, Brooks, Dale and Clyde Elliott; four sisters, Lucille McCarthey, Marjorie Ballard, Bessie Cummings and Vergie Bridges; one daughter-in-law; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home, Marietta, Oklahoma. Her late son, Bill, owned this funeral home prior to the Kennedy’s.
