Bill J. Petre of Dandridge, Tennessee, was completely healed and called to his eternal home in Heaven on November 22nd, at the age of 90. Until a fall caused brain trauma the last days of his life on earth, he was an active senior and lived a very independent life with his devoted wife, Lucy. His love for laughter, the way he treated people kindly, and his appreciation for nature will always be remembered. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Bill served in the 1st Marine Division and the Korean War and received an Honorable Discharge as Staff Sergeant. His stories from his time in the military weren't about combat, but instead funny or interesting experiences with the friends he made while serving his country. He took great pride in being a veteran and loved hearing stories from his grandsons currently serving in the U.S. Army. Retired 26 years from Magnavox / Phillips Consumer Electronics (Greenville, then Jefferson City), Bill was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman most of his life. He and Lucy enjoyed a long history of entertaining friends, trips to the beach, raising two daughters, serving in the local church, attending University of Tennessee football games, and just enjoying quality time with extended family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Vallie Petre; his sisters, Molissie, Lucille, Hettie, Helen, and Mattie; brothers, Dutch and Herman. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Lucy; cherished daughters Teresa (Kit) Rae and Nikki (Chris) Dome; adored grandsons Hunter and Hayden Dome; as well as many loved nieces and nephews, special breakfast buddies and two adorable Toy Yorkies, Jake, and Chico. Friends may call at their convenience on Friday, November 26, 2021 and Monday, November 29, 2021 between the hours of 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City. In light of the persistent spread of illness, there will not be a formal receiving line, but a memorial service will be held honoring Bill's life at 7:00 pm, Monday, November 29th, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City with The Reverend Dr. Merrill (Mel) Hawkins, friend and neighbor of the Petre's, officiating. Family and friends are invited to meet at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 30th at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a graveside interment service officiated by Pastor Alan Duncan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill's memory to First Baptist Church, 1610 Russell Avenue, Jefferson City, TN 37760, where Bill and Lucy were members for 55 years.
