George F. Newberry, 78, of 408 10th St, died at Beardstown Hospital. He was born August 25, 1905 at Virginia IL, the son of Leroy and Georganna (Fluckey) Newberry. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Hazel. Survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Georgie "Dorothy" Schroeder of Dixon, Mrs. William "Goldie" Chestnut of R.R. 3 Rushville, Mrs. Norris "Chantal" Atwood of Rushville, and Mrs. Ernie "Kathy" Turner of Jacksonville; two step sons, whom he raised, William Hovendon of Beardstown and Don Knowles of Pittsfield; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Newberry worked for the C. B. & Q. Railroad and later for the City of Beardstown, for many years at the Beardstown City Cemetery.
Funeral Services were at the Cline Funeral Home with Rev. Lottie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia IL.
