Marie Allison Elliott, 82

Greene Township, Pa. - Marie Allison Elliott, 82, of Greene Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, went to meet her Lord on June 1, 2010, following a brief illness. Born Kathryn Marie Allison on March 1, 1928, in Chester, the daughter of Donald Ellsworth Allison and Ethel Yonally Allison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Frank Elliott; one sister, Helen Johnson; and two brothers, Robert Allison and Ray Allison. Marie was a retired teacher, having taught for 29 years in Chester and South Side High School, Hookstown, Pa. For her service to the community, Marie was inducted into the South Side Area School District's Hall of Fame in 2008. Marie was an active member of the Hookstown Grange No. 1980 for 60 years, where she could always be found in the kitchen making soup or baking pies. She was also a member of Beaver Pomona Grange No. 66 in which she served as an officer and committee chair for many years. Marie was very involved in the Hookstown Fair for 60 years. Marie was a dedicated member of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church of Hookstown where she served as an elder, co-director of the Good News Club after-school program for many years, and a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. In all of these roles, she served as a mentor and an inspiration to all those around her who grew to love her as she included them as part of her extended family. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Myron and Deborah Elliott of Greene Township; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Arthur Beckert of Greene Township; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tracey Elliott of Greene Township; grandson and wife, Paul and Sarah Elliott of Hanover Township; grandson and fiance, Aaron Beckert and Ashton Simpson; granddaughter Lynn Elliott; grandson Joshua Beckert; four brothers, Dean and Sarah Allison of Alliance, Errett Allison of Chester, Elbert and Darlene Allison of Chester and Myron and Chris Allison of Stowe, Ohio; one sister, Margaret Alliene Kissoon of East Liverpool; one sister-in-law, Elinor Searight of Greene Township; one brother-in-law, Richard Elliott of Washington, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Marie would appreciate donations be made to the building fund of the Mill Creek UP Church of Hookstown. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Welch Funeral Home, Hookstown. Calling hours will be at the funeral home from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; and Friday at her church, one hour prior to the funeral. The celebration of Marie's life will be held at 11 a.m. on June 4, 2010, at the Mill Creek UP Church of Hookstown, 5001 state Route 151, Hookstown.
