Robert Donald Allison, 80

Greensburg, Pa. -- After a lengthy battle with cancer, Robert Donald Allison passed from this life into the presence of his Savior on March 28, 2002. Robert was born in Chester Aug. 31, 1921, and graduated from Wells High School in Newell in 1939. He served in the Combat Engineers during World War II, was on active duty during the Korean War and then continued in the Army Reserves until his retirement in 1979 as a master sergeant. He lived in Hialeah, Fla., where he worked as a heavy equipment operator, mechanic and maintenance supervisor from 1955 - 1977, retired to Lady Lake, Fla., then moved to Greensburg, Pa., in 1993. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Greensburg. Robert was a very active man and made many friends everywhere he lived. He served in many capacities in his local churches. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Virginia, and is survived by a son, Roy and his wife Beverly of Greensburg and a daughter, Kimberly Gibbs and her husband Ken of Pembroke Pines, Fla. He also is survived by grandchildren Brenda Allison, Robert Allison, Keith Gibbs and Kory Gibbs. Robert also has five living brothers and two living sisters. Friends may visit from 6 to 8 tonight, and the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Graveside military honors will be
accorded by the Tri - State Burial Group.

Greensburg, Pa. -- Services will be held today for Robert Donald Allison, 80, who died Thursday, March 28, 2002. He was born Aug. 31, 1921 in Chester. He was a heavy equipment operator, mechanic and maintenance supervisor in Hialeah, Fla. and served in the U. S. Army during World War II and Korea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Allison. He is survived by a son, Roy Allison of Greensburg; a daughter, Mrs. Ken (Kimberly) Gibbs of Pembroke Pines, Fla., five brothers, Roy Allison of St. Cloud, Fla., Dean Allison of Alexandria, Ill., Errett Allison and Elbert Allison of Chester, and Myron Allison of Stow, Ohio; two sisters, Marie Elliott of Hookstown, Pa., and Alliene Kisson of East Liverpool; and two grandchildren. Pastor Chester Miller of Bible Baptist Church will conduct the services at 1 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.
