Daniel Franklyn Stubbs, known to the family as "Tim" and to colleagues as "Dan," was born in Lincoln, Nebraska 27 November 1938. He graduated from high school in Alliance, Nebraska and pursued an engineering degree at Purdue University. He then went on to obtain his master's and doctorate at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. While there he met and married Anne Silvernail of Stephentown, NY. Most of Tim's career was on the faculty of California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, California where he was chair of the Computer Science Department and author of many technical publications. As a devoted father of two sons, Danny and Mark, he was very involved with their activities.
