Adelia Catherine "Ada" Higgins was the daughter of John Dallas Higgins & Elizabeth Jane "Ella" Vermillion. On March 30, 1907, she married an English immigrant named Charles Frances Wood, who had only been in America for about 3 years.
Charles & Ada had no children of their own, but adopted Ada's half-sister, Gladys, who was a twin. Gladys's twin was Clarence Russell Higgins.
After the death of the twins' biological parents in 1920, Clarence came to live with Charles & Ada & his twin sister. Gladys was raised a "Wood" while her twin was raised a Higgins. It is believed that Charles & Ada could not have children of their own.
