William Dingus born Dec 16th, 1879 at Alphoretta (now Martin) Floyd Co, KY; son of Charles Westley and Nancy Jane Flanery Dingus. He married Flora Reynolds March 3, 1898. William and Flora were the parents of nine children, six sons and three daughters. Bill often told of the first time he saw Flora. At that time he claimes her as his "girl". Bill was a lifelong resident of Floyd Co, Ky. In his early years he sold timber, floating the logs down the Big Sandy river to Catlettsburg on a raft. He was a merchant, operating a general store. His later years were spent in farming until his death on Dec 13, 1961 at age 81. He is buried in the Dingus Cem at Hite, Floyd Co Ky. Bill and Flora belived in education, having to send the oldest children away from home for a high school education. The five younger children received their degrees from college. Bill and Flora were life long members of the Church of Jesus Crist of Latter Day Saints.

Former Merchant Victim Is Claimed Last Week; Funeral Held Saturday.

William Dingus, 82, of Hite, was claimed by a year's illness at 7 p.m. Wednesday of last week. He was a former merchant and farmer. Mr. Dingus was a son of Charles and Nancy Flannery Dingus. His widow, Flora Reynolds Dingus, survives. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 50 years. Surviving sons and daughters are D. P. Dingus, Reynolds Dingus, Thurman Dingus, Phillip Dingus, Blanche Dingus and Mrs. Rhoda Crawford, all of Martin, Lewis Dingus, of Printer, and Mrs. Girdell Breeding, Madison, Indiana. He had no surviving brothers or sisters. Funeral rites were conducted Saturday, at 1 p.m. from the Martin Branch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, President John Wheeler, Elders Jerry Zeibig, Jim Martin, Buddy Yates and Jack Hutchinson officiating. Burial was made in the family cemetery at Hite under the direction of Turner-Ryan Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Merrill Salyers, Jack Dingus, LeMoyne Dingus, Charles Dingus, Bill Dingus and Charles McDavid. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Mayo, Ralph Reynolds, Parker Reynolds, Bill Reynolds, Martin Mayo and Russell Dingus
