K.R.R.N.Y., Pte. Daly's Company

Artificer/blocker, at Sorel (Quebec) in 1779.

Commissioned Corporal in 1783.

Wife stated as Elizabeth Ann Dillabough

1784 - drew for land in Royal Township 2, Cornwall with his wife Elizabeth Ann Dillabough and two children. Granted Lot 6, Concession 1.

Militia Rolls of Upper Canada, Major James Gray's Company, 7 years of service, given age 37.

Claim for Losses dated 16 Feb. 1788 (Attached).


The 1784 Provisioning lists for Township 2 Cornwall, disbanded troops and Loyalists , has Corporal Philip Empey Jr. with his wife and two children.


NOTE: From the Upper Canada Gazette of the first of January 1818, Philip Empey is one of the militia men who received pensions on account of wounds received at the taking of Ogdensburg, and at the skirmish at Hoople's Creek in the township of Osnabruck, during the War of 1812. Philip unfortunately lost a leg. Philip was commissioned Captain in the War of 1812.

His actual name was Philip Empie.


On 12-19-1771 he married Elizabeth Ansley (Ensline) in Stone Arabia on December 10, 1771.


Philip had a second marriage (4/21/1824) to:

Elizabeth (Eliza) Burdick d. 6/14/1886


Philip & Elizabeth Ansley had 8 children.
