William Philip Empey, a Revolutionary War soldier, enlisted 15 August 1777, the day 58 men enlisted at Fort Stanwix. Four of the men were Empey brothers from Stone Arabia, New York. William served in Angus McDonnell's Company, First Battalion of Sir John Johnson's King's Royal Regiment of New York, was captured near Johnstown, New York while on scout November 1780, and later served with Capt. Patrick Daly's Company in 1782 and 1783.

The 1784 Provisioning lists for disbanded soldiers and Loyalists in Royal Township 2, Cornwall, has William Empey with wife and two children.

William's land grant was just east of the Cornwall townsite, and four other members of his family were on lots 4, 5 and 6 beside him.

Note: All of the EMPEYS on this page (attached) served in 1KRRNY except Henry, he was born 1767 at Stone Arabia in the Mohawk Valley as were all his brothers listed here as sons of PHILIP Snr. They were allotted land in Cornwall Twp.
