Robert S. "Bob" Barnes, 74, died Thursday, September 18, 2003, at home. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and noon Saturday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Barnes was born November 16, 1928, in Magee to Thomas T. Barnes and Alice Grubbs Barnes. He was a resident of Jackson for 50 years and retired from the Jackson Public School after 30 years of service.
Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Simmie Jones Barnes.
He was a loving father to six children. Sons, Robert S. Barnes Jr. and Eddie T. Barnes; daughters, Cynthia D. Barnes, Juith B. Reaume, Patricia Barnes McMichael, Denise Barnes Hart; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray Barnes and Lavelle Barnes, and sister, Nannie Mae Barnes.
He was loved as a father and friend by countless others.
