LOA, UTAH--Our kind and beloved, Antone Bastian "Bash" Rees, age 77, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 1999 at his home in Loa, of complications from cancer. He was born September 8, 1922 in Gunnison, Utah, a son of Parley and Mandy Melvina Bastian Rees. He served in the Army as a Technician Fifth Grade of the 118th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion during World War II. The campaigns he was involved in were Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. Bash married Faun Bagley on July 11, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They made their home in Loa and worked at farming and cattle raising. Bash worked several jobs through the years to support his family and keep the farm going. Bash and Faun are the parents of Katherine (Jerry) Woolsey and Ronald (Dona) Rees. Their grandchildren are Scott and Heidi Woolsey, Wade Woolsey, T.J. Rees, Aaron Rees, Justin Mayhew, Christine Rees and Kevin Rees. Bash is survived by four sisters: LaPreal Forsyth, Harriett Morrell, Betty Jean Chappell and Beverly Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman P. Rees, and a sister, Inez R. White. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 27, 1999 at 1 p.m. in the Loa L.D.S. Stake Center. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West, in Richfield, Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the stake center in Loa, Monday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Loa Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
