He indicated that his wife and mother were dependents. His physical description was medium height, slender build, blue eyes, & light colored hair. His signature was Joe Roy McAlister.

"Roy McAlister, formerly manager of the Paige Motor Company of this city, who enlisted in the Navy on July 27, 1918, has returned to this city after receiving an honorable discharge on Jan. 10.

He will establish himself in the automobile business again and will handle the Paige cars and also the Marmons. Mr. McAlister has a carload of Paige cars on hand and is looking for a suitable location. Mr. McAlister was a very efficient automobile man and the citizens should be glad to welcome his return."

"ROY McALESTER
Roy McAlester is the champion automobile salesman in Carter county. During the past four years he has solely through his own efforts and without the assistance of any employees, sold more than 250 Paige cars, and since March 1920, has sold 15 Marmons. Mr. McAlester maintains a service station at the Mechanics Motor Company garage at 22 A street, northwest.

In January 1921, he discontinued the Paige agency and handles Marmons exclusively.

Mr. McAlester was born in Ardmore in 1892. He attended the public schools of this city, and after completing his education, learned the interior decorating business and traveled about the country, working in this profession in various cities. Most of his time while away from Ardmore he spent at Los Angeles, Cal. Mr. McAlester aided in the interior decorating work at the San Diego Exposition building during this fair.

In 1916, Mr. McAlester returned to Ardmore and opened the Paige agency, at a time when the auto industry was young and there were many opportunities in commercial activities. Since that time he has enjoyed great success.

In September 1916, he married Miss Hazel Franklin of this city. On account of the ill health of Mrs. McAlester, they may move to California during May, and will remain there for about a year. Mr. McAlester states that as soon as his wife recuperates, they will return to Ardmore, and he will resume his commercial activities here.

'I believe,' states Mr. McAlester, 'that there are more opportunities in business matters in Ardmore than anywhere else in the country.'"

"ROY McALISTER IS ACTIVE IN BUSINESS
Roy McAlister began life in Love county, and was born at Overbrook. J.S. McAlister was his father. The elder McAlister was a public-spirited citizen. He built a number of community churches in his time, and the McAlister Cemetery was named for him. He passed at the age of 87, but Roy's mother, Mrs. Kate McAlister, now 92, lives at 411 Douglas Boulevard.

Roy McAlister moved into Ardmore as a lad and graduated form Ardmore high. His first business venture was to get into the automobile business. J.C. King and Tom Frame were his silent partners. He sold the Marmon and the Paige and made quite a reputation as being the youngest dealer in the state.

Later the motor business was sold to J.C. King and Roy took over the painting and decorating business of Ash Douglas and Jim Weeks. But he did not enter the decorating business until he spent 14 years in Chicago learning the business.

He is a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the American Legion and a member of the chamber of commerce.

He married Hazel Franklin and for 26 years they have maintained a home at 1419 West Broadway.

While they lived in Chicago they kept their home because it was located near her mother's home."
