Mr. Ralph Mike Blackie, age 89, of Lake City, FL passed away peacefully on September 1st, 2020 in Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, FL. He was born December 21st, 1930 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Edna Anna Marie Kippenhan Smith and Charles Frederick Smith Sr. He resided in Jacksonville, FL before moving to Lake City, FL in 1972. He grew up on a farm and he continued to maintain a small garden until he was no longer physically able. He was a welder ad machinist by trade retiring in 1982 to follow his dream of traveling. He loved to play poker, travel and was quite the adventurer. When he wasn’t riding roller coasters or thrill rides at Disney World, he loved to sit on the patio, listen to music and enjoy the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Leola Everidge Blackie and one daughter Judy Ann Blackie. Ralph is survived by six children, Mary Ellen (Tim) Haugen, Wautoma, WI. Allen (Susan) Bushman, San Diego, CA. Michael Franklin (Cindy) Blackie, Jacksonville, FL. Richard Eugene Blackie, San Francisco, CA. Keith Edwin (Susan) Blackie, Lake City, FL. Joy Marie (John) Nettles, Lake City, FL. Ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Ruby Hayes, Paradise, CA and a brother Robert “Bobby” Smith of Tennessee. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A Graveside service to honor the life of Mr. Ralph Blackie will be held Tuesday, September 8th at 11:00 A.M. in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with interment following the service.
