George Rohwer, 85 Dies Following Burns Suffered In Fire
Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Erickson Funeral Home in Garwin, for George Rohwer ,Sr., 85, who died Sunday about 8:30 p.m. in a Marshalltown hospital.
M . Rohwer was severely burned while attempting to put out a fire in the Rohwer Truck Lines garage in Garwin on Monday morning, May 15th.
Services were in charge of Rev. G.E . MacCanon.
Pallbearers were: George J. Rohwer, Clarence Arp, Albert Rohwer, Harold Pieper, Delbert Mugge, and John Williams.
Burial was in Crystal cemetery.
Life Sketch
George Rohwer Sr., son of Claus and Francis (Bock) Rohwer, was born in Scott County, Iowa, December 5, 1875, and died in Marshalltown, Iowa, May 21, 1961, at the age o f 85 years, 5 months and 16 days.
When he was a young boy the family moved to Tama County, Iowa and he lived in or near Tama County
the rest of his life.
Mr. Rohwer was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by four children; Mrs. Hilda Steirt of Toledo, Mrs. Lula Burnett of Long Beach, Calif., George of Garwin, and Mrs. Eldora Agena of Algona; two sisters, Celia Carstensen of Knoxville, Ill. and Katie
Kunsinger of Tama, Nine grand children, one great grand child and many other relatives and friends .
