James Byrd of Verona, Ky was born Wednesday, March 10, 1943 in Manchester, KY and died Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the St Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas, KY at the age of 77.

He was the son of the late Andy and Mae Barrett Byrd, a retired mechanic and machine operator for Atkins and Pearce Mfg. in Covington, KY, and a member of the Banklick Baptist Church, Independence, KY. On May 8, 1965 he was united in marriage to his wife, Doris Jean Grubb Byrd.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Doris Byrd of Verona; one son, Terry Lee (Kelly) Byrd of Wasssilla, AK; one daughter, Kim (Richie) Smeal of Dry Ridge; four grandson; 1 step-grandson; 2 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Glena Ray, Emma Day and Rosie (Ronnie) Hornsby all of Manchester, KY.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Banklick Baptist Church, Independence, KY followed by burial in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona, KY.
