Services for Leon Carpenter will be at 10:30 Monday in First Baptist Church with Revs. Lamar Carpenter and Donald Rudd officiating. Burial will be in Sanders Chapel Cemetery under direction of Southern, Winnfield.
Carpenter, 85, of Calvin died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997 in Winn Parish Medical Center.
He was retired from the logging industry and a member of First Baptist Church of Calvin. He was a past member of the Winn Parish School Board and a member of Calvin Lodge No. 431 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Carter Carpenter of Calvin, one son, Danny L. Carpenter of Calvin, three brothers, W.E. Carpenter, Jr., Bob Carpenter and Clifford Carpenter of Calvin, four sisters, Ruth Lowe, Ruby Carter and Earline Martin, all of Calvin and Helen Reed of Winnfield; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchidren.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Carpenter, Paul Carpenter, Troy Carpenter, Lyndon Carpenter, Kyle Carpenter and Dannon Erskins.
Friends may call from 4-10 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday in the church.
