San Jose Evening News, Apr. 21, 1902. "Thomas M. Hobson, who has been a resident of this county for the past forty years, passed away this morning at his residence at 685 East St. James street. Mr. Hobson was a carpenter and was 62 years of age. He will be buried at Oak Hill Cemetery ... The deceased was a native of North Carolina. He was well known in San Jose and was highly esteemed."

San Jose Evening News, Apr. 23, 1902. "The funeral of the late Thomas M. Hobson, who died Monday morning at his residence on St. James street near Thirteenth, was held this afternoon from the family residence at 2 o'clock, the interment being at Oak Hill Cemetery. ... In addition to his widow, [he is survived by] two children, Herman and Mrs. Will Chrisman [Alice], all of whom reside in San Jose, as do four brothers, George, Nathan, Charles, and Jacob Hobson."
