John Raymond Bennett, a retired grocery store owner, of Flintville, died Sunday in Lincoln County Hospital after a lenghty illness. He was 72.
He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Jarred and Amanda Belle Smith Bennett.
He operated a grocery store in the Flintville community for a number of years and was a member of the Smithland Community Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Betty Boles Bennett of Flintville; four daughters, Mrs. Elsie Harris of Nashville, Mrs. Dorothy Reed of Winchester, Mrs. Nellie Carr of Huntsville, and Mrs. Nancy Anderson of Tullahoma; a step-daughter, Miss Shannon Kay Boles of Flintville; three sons, Jerry Bennett of Lascassas, John Ray Bennett of Ringgold, Georgia, and Jeffrey Lynn Bennett, of Flintville; a sister, Mrs. Clara Jean of Fayetteville; a brother, Carl Bennett of Fayetteville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
