Bernardston - Mabel Esther (Kent) Shippa Brown, 91, formerly of Bernardston, died Thursday morning Apr. 14, 2005 at the Vernon Green Nursing Home in Vernon Vt. She was born in West Dummerston, Vt., on June 29, 1913, the daughter of William and Rosella (Aldrich) Kent. She was educated in Dummerston schools and early in life was a practical nurse at Brattleboro (Vt.) Memorial Hospital and the Brattleboro Retreat. She was married to her first husband, Eugen Shippa, on Nov. 23, 1932, in Rutland, Vt. Mr. Shippa predeceased her in 1953. She then was married to Warren Brown on Apr. 14, 1956 in Vernon. Mr. Brown predeceased her in 2000. She lived in Bernardston for many years prior to the Vernon Green. She is survived by three sons, Lewis C. Shippa and wife June of Falls Village, Conn., Eugene Shippa and his wife Elizabeth of Bernardston and and Robert
Shippa and his wife Sadie of Northfield; one daughter, Judith Brunell and her husband Arthur of South Ogden, Utah,
and one sister, Rosella Desbiens and her husbandGerald of New Haven, Conn.; seven grandsons; five granddaughters many
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday Apr. 18, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Kidder Funeral Home 1 Parker Ave., Northfield. The Rev. Bruce Burks, paster of the Advent Christian Church, Vernon, will officiate. Burial
Will follow in Tyler Cemetery, Vernon. There will be a calling hour on Monday morning Apr. 18, 2005 from 10 until the time of the service. Donations in her memory man be made to the Advent Christian Church Building Fund, 4554 Fort Bridgman Road, Vernon, Vt.05354.
