Josephine was the fourth of twelve children born to Joseph and Virginia Meek. Her family settled in this area in late 1840. She died at age 15, possibly of tuberculosis.

Cenotaph. Names of 4 children: Atchinson Dallas, Hiram C., William Henry, and Josephine Meek who died prior to establishment of this church and cemetery. They are interred at the site of Methodist Meeting House (no longer in existence) near here.
