GROVER POTTER DIES TODAY
Grover Cleveland Potter, 73, of Excelsior Springs passed away at the Excelsior Springs Hospital at 12:10 a.m. today.
Born September 28, 1885 in Ray County, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Franklin Potter.
Mr. Potter had served on the Excelsior Springs police force for 25 years and as a Clay County deputy Sheriff for 18 years He retired from the Sheriff's office about two years ago and has been working with the Sexton Realty Company since.
He was a member of the IOOF, Woodmen of the World and the Missouri Peace Officer's Association.
Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Maybelle Wise of Kansas City; two grandsons, Edwin Grover Wise with the U. 5. Navy in San Diego, Calif. and David Ellsworth Wise of the home and a sister, Mrs. Gertie Piercy of Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church and Burial will be in the Crown Hill Mausoluem. Services will be conducted by the Reverend Harland Ginn.
Mr. Potter will lie in state at the Prichard Funeral Home until 12 noon Thursday.
