Winnie D. Courtney, a homemaker and a resident and native of Walker, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 6, 2003, at her residence. She was 87.
Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visiting at Judson Baptist Church, Walker, from 9 a.m. until service at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Merelin McCon and the Rev. Freddie Arnold. Burial in Judson Baptist Church Cemetery, Walker.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Redrick Courtney, Walker; four daughters and sons-in-law, Zemly Nell and Joseph Ervin, Mary Francis and Louis Lodney Higginbotham, Earline and Herbert "Herbie" Vinyard and Juanita and Leslie Falks; a sister, Bonnie Noble; two brothers, Scoffield Davis and Herbert Davis; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous close friends, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Leon C. and Frances Gustava Davis; sisters, Gertrude Ward, her twin, Tennie Arnold, Stella Cook and Juanita Dear; two brothers, Lee and Willard Davis; and a grandson, Little Joe Erwin.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorial donations may be made to Judson Baptist Church Debt Retirement, 32470 Walker N. Road, Walker, LA 70785.
