Jay Walker, 76, of Woodson died at 3:03 a.m. Monday at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Breckenridge. Services will be at 4 p.m.Tuesday at Melton Chapel of Memories. David Hutton, minister of a Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be at Woodson Cemetery. Born Aug. 22, 1903 in Comanche County, he married GRACE GARNER June 11, 1926 in Breckenridge. He came to Woodson in 1910 from Comanche County. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, BETTY SMART of Stanton and ELAINE LOVE of Bowie; a son, E.J. "CANDY" WALKER of Breckenridge; six sisters, NELLIE CANUTSON, BONNIE MITCHELL, VELMA MIXON and CORA CARVER, all of Breckenridge, BESS HARVEY and BERTHA MAHAN, both of Woodson; two brothers, HORTON WALKER of Roswell, N.M. and GALE WALKER of Breckenridge; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be MIKE SCHMITT, BOLEY COTTON, SCOTT ROBINSON, LARRY SULLIVAN, WALTER TIMMONS and CARLTON SULLIVAN.
