Funeral services for Maxine Bernice Garver of Iola, Kansas, whose death Friday was reported in Saturday's Register will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel. The Rev. Kelly Zellner will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Humboldt or the American Heart Association.
She was born October 13,1920, on a farm between Humboldt and Iola to Charlie and Lula B Cooper Bair. She grew up on a farm north of Humboldt.
She was a member of the Humboldt First Christian Church. She liked to shop, travel and cooking and canning.
On December 20, 1942, she married Lester L "Junior" Garver in Iola. They made their home in Iola area except for 12 years when they lived in Washington. They returned to Iola several years ago.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; a son C.L. "Charlie" Garver of Anchor Point, Alaska; a brother Charles Bair, of Dolores, Colorado; three sisters, Frances Perkins, Missoula, Montana, Betty Madill of Wichita and Lula Bell Smith of Iola; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Two sisters, Mable Wemmer and Pauline Swinney, and a granddaughter; Wendy Cowden, died earlier.
